Joseph L. Voss

Joe focuses his practice on the representation of entertainment industry professionals and organizations, and represents borrowers and lenders in connection with commercial loans as well as investors and issuers in connection with equity investment transactions.

Representative transactions and recent activities include:

• Representing a Michigan community bank in the creation of its film production lending program;
• Handling the production legal needs of a non-profit organization that is producing a documentary film;
• Representing a record label on its corporate finance structure and investor agreements;
• Advising local production companies and producers from outside of Michigan in connection with the structure and financing of television, film and commercial projects to be filmed in Michigan;
• Representing a Michigan manufacturer of household goods in the negotiation of an endorsement agreement with a national home improvement television personality;
• Representing musicians and filmmakers in the licensing and clearance of music rights;
• Representing secured lenders in connection with syndicated and single-bank credit facilities secured by real estate and personal property; and
• Testifying at a hearing of the joint Michigan House and Senate Commerce Committee in favor of the recently passed tax incentive legislation package for productions filmed in Michigan.
