Steffany L. Hreno
Steffany is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department. She concentrates her practice on general corporate litigation.
Some of her recent experience includes:

Defending a multi-million dollar international corporation against a Fortune 100 company in litigation arising from claims of breach of contract, breach of implied and express warranties, negligence, and products liability claims, in which the defendant was awarded nearly one million dollars in monetary sanctions as a result of the plaintiffs' discovery abuses and granted partial summary judgment;

Representing an international corporation that alleged breaches of fiduciary duties, breach of contracts, tortious interference with business relationships, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, conversion and violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act by a defendant corporation and its officers, against whom the judge imposed an adverse inference sanction for the intentional spoliation of evidence;

In proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, successfully challenging the opposer’s survey evidence regarding the likelihood of dilution of our client’s trademark

Assisting in the representation of a local hospital in responding to allegations of negligent hiring and retention, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract; and

Representing numerous local corporations in litigation against claims of negligence, strict liability, breach of warranty, breach of contract, fraudulent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment.
Steffany's experience prior to joining Ungaretti & Harris includes:

Clerking in the Criminal Appellate Division of the Office of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, drafting the State’s successful reply to the appeal of a defendant’s guilty plea for double homicide and rape, and arguing against the conditional release of a petitioner deemed to be a “Sexually Violent Predator” in an appellate brief subsequently endorsed by the Illinois Court of Appeals in a published opinion; see People v. Rexroat, 354 Ill.App.3d 447, 821 N.E.2d 362 (3d Dist. 2004)
