Theodore E. Harman
Ted has experience in a variety of commercial litigation matters.
His recent experience includes:

Obtaining summary judgment on behalf of a boat manufacturer accused of breaching contract and committing antitrust violations in connection with termination of dealership;

Handling the prosecution of substantial workout litigation for a major fund manager including a contested foreclosure action in a bankruptcy proceeding, and the defense on appeal of $5.8 million in judgments obtained against an individual guarantor;

Counseling and litigating on behalf of healthcare providers in administrative and judicial proceedings relating to decisions of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board;

Defending brokerage firms in customer-instituted arbitration proceedings asserting claims of unsuitable investment recommendations, churning, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty in connection with retail securities transactions;

Representing brokerage firms in prosecuting actions enjoining misappropriation of trade secrets and enforcing covenants not to compete;

Defending a major truck engine manufacturer and its filter product subsidiary in a multi-million dollar action brought by a potential supplier of chemical products, alleging breach of contract, promissory estoppel, and misappropriation of trade secrets by obtaining substantial relief on motion for summary judgment, and negotiating nuisance value settlement;

Representing local government entities and bidders in various actions involving application and legality of local business preferences;

Representing a riverboat gaming company in litigation challenging legality and operation of a riverboat casino under state constitution;

Defending a shareholder in a closely held corporation against claims of a disgruntled minority shareholder; and

Defending a healthcare provider in declaratory judgment regarding legality of agreement to waive Medicare deductible and co-payments.
